FEATURE

The high water content in AVD effectively cools the hearth of the fire. Because AVD has good vertical adhesion, AVD cools vertical areas where other extinguishing agents run off quickly without noticeable effect. AVD lays down like a blanket over the hearth of the fire, which prevents the oxygen supply and suffocates the fire quickly. As vermiculite resists high temperatures up to well above 1000C, the cover of AVD remains intact even in the most severe and hottest lithium-ion battery fires.

AVD is an extremely good thermal insulator. When applying AVD, the intact battery cells are isolated from the fire source where thermal rush and propagation takes place. In this way, the chain reaction is broken off and the heat transfer from cell to cell stops quickly and efficiently. The unique properties of AVD mean that the extinguishing agent can be used in several areas, especially in fire suppression. We have done internal tests between vehicles and buildings with good results. AVD is the only extinguishing agent with independent third-party testing for extinguishing lithium-ion batteries.
