About the course

S-HLR is tailored for healthcare and social care settings and is built around team training. We cover alarm routines, roles and safe management, and practise defibrillation and airway management. Short theory is mixed with lots of practice in scenarios taken from your daily work.

What you will learn

  • The S-HLR algorithm: start CPR, call for help, role allocation and team communication
  • Adult CPR: compressions and ventilations with correct depth/rate
  • Defibrillation: using a defibrillator/AED and following rhythm/analysis (shockable/non-shockable)
  • Adult choking: back blows and abdominal thrusts
  • Airway management: ventilation with pocket mask/BVM (where equipment is available)
  • Safety & alarm pathways in healthcare, documentation and reporting

After the course

  • You can follow the S-HLR algorithm and use a defibrillator safely
  • You work effectively in a team with clear communication and roles
  • You receive a digital S-HLR Adult certificate and a recommended refresh plan
